Romanticising the Little Things

02/05/2025

Hi! Welcome to a new segment on Above All Limits called Gabi's Ideas. I recently got canva pro because of my school so get ready to get sick of me. I decided to start this segment because my brain is always running, and I don’t want my thoughts to go to waste. Writing them down feels like the best way to make sense of them and maybe even spark something in someone else. I also like to pretend I'm some sort of lifestyle guru but most of the time, the advice I write is for myself.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how much better life feels when you romanticize the little things. Not in a delulu way but in the sense that everyday moments become so much more meaningful when you actually pay attention to them.

Every morning, I wake up drink my coffee, eat breakfast, do my skincare, and I either go to the gym or class, depending on what day it is. This part of my morning is a ritual, a moment of peace before the day starts. I get to say good morning to my family, and I get to see the light of the day. I drink water, feel the love around me, and I’m so grateful for it all. Not everyone has that. I get to go to school, study at a great university, and treat myself to an empanada at the cafe. It's literally only $1.25, what a blessing! The little things, those teeny tiny little moments, are so beautiful. You should take a moment to be grateful for them.

Life is always happening, even in the moments that seem mundane (big words queen). If you wait for the “big” things to be happy, you’re going to miss out on so much. The way the sun feels on your skin, the way your favorite song hits different at night (or when you're high), the way fresh sheets feel after a long day. All these little things are the big things.

Start paying attention. You deserve to experience life fully.
